Antarctica approaching

I've already told you: I'm going to Antarctica! D(eparture)-day is coming closer quickly (3 days to go!). These days I've been working hard on the presentations me and my colleague will give, poviding the expedition members with background information on local ecology, climate change and what you can do about it as a company as well as on personal level. In the making, the amount and quality of information and pictures that can be found on the internet really amazed me. Nevertheless, looking for the 'best available' is burning hours like crazy. Things are converging: We received the gear to keep us warm and dry in the 'most hostile environment on earth'. Also the information about the program has arrived. I made little piles of everything to take with me, dug up a bag and discovered the latter was less voluminous than the little piles combined. No worries, two days left to sort it out. The required medical data are almost complete. On the website of the expedition, all bios of participants have been published. It's great fun to read about those I've never met before, but will spend intense time with shortly. You can have a look here. I'm glad Merijn has come home yesterday from one week of skiiing in the Alps. It's nice to share excitement about preparations with her. Unfortunately, she can't come with us. Well, maybe one time, there will be an opportunity to guide her there. During the expedition, please read about albatrosses, ice bergs and sea sickness (I've never really sailed a sea before...oh my god) on our special online log: http://www.imsa.nl/linktopage81.html
